Tap water : “  you have to be crazy to drink that !_cc781905-5c6_bb3518-bad-bad”

87% of Europeans say they are concerned about the pollutants present in water, and the risks they may have on their health.

Some believe, on the contrary, that there is no problem with tap water.

A friend even told me :

“ The water we drink in France is of very good quality ! We have to stop scaring people with this !! If we listen to you, we have the impression that we can no longer eat or drink anything at the risk of being sick. »

For many people, it is difficult to admit that the water we drink may not be as clean as we think.

I see 3 reasons for this :

  1. Water is natural: it is found everywhere in nature (rivers, lakes, rain, glaciers, etc.). It is the purest and most natural drink for our health.

  2. Drinking water is one of the most regulated and most monitored consumer products in France. Tap water regularly undergoes numerous quality tests.

  3. I've been drinking tap water for years and never had a problem. And it was the same for my parents and my grandparents. No one has ever gotten sick from the water.

Because of these 3 myths, we tend to think that drinking water is the best thing we can do for our health.

And in a way, it's true : water is the drink of choice in everyday life. Of course, I recommend that you drink water rather than sodas, fruit juices, alcohol...

But the problem is that  all waters are not created equal.

Most are not as pure as you think (including some bottled waters). They can contain many substances that have no place in the water and which can harm your health.

I will immediately explain to you why the 3 statements above, if they could be true in the past, must be taken with a grain of salt today.

I'll also show you why choosing your water well is undoubtedly one of the most important things you can do for your health.

The water is natural.

Really ?

Our image of water, inspired by our walks in nature and by advertisements, is often idealized.

We picture a winding river winding through the middle of a lush forest, cascading between two rocks. Pure, fresh water… In short, water is life in its simplest state.

But…

I may disappoint you, but the reality is not so idyllic.

To realize this, you have to look at the water more closely – very closely indeed.

Under a microscope, we can see that water is not composed solely of… water. In addition to water molecules (H2O), there are many minerals (calcium, potassium, sodium, etc.) that the water has carried with it as it travels along rivers or in groundwater.

To simplify, we can say that all the small particles that are in the path of water will tend to mix with it, even to dissolve in it.

This is not a problem when it comes to essential minerals naturally present in water (as long as they are not in excessive quantities).

On the other hand, it is more serious when it comes to toxic substances released by human activity.

But intensive cultivation, the use of drugs, industrial products, manufacturing materials, dilapidated pipes... all of this releases hundreds of potentially dangerous substances into groundwater and waterways,_cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ which then end up in the water we drink every day.

Pesticides, drugs, endocrine disruptors, pathogenic microbes, chlorine, aluminum, copper, lead, arsenic...

Tap water can contain many toxins, sometimes tolerated by obsolete standards, which in my opinion should not be allowed.

And eliminating them is sometimes very complicated.

Quality water… based on what criteria ?

In 2014, according to official figures from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, 94 % of the French population benefited from water that complied with health standards with regard to pesticides…

Said like that, this figure looks reassuring…

But that still means that 4 millions of French people drink water that contains too many toxic products from conventional agriculture -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ according to official standards !

The molecules most often incriminated are herbicides, the majority of which have been banned for several years, but which persist in nature, such as atrazine, the use of which has ceased since 2003... but which is still found in our water today. hui despite the standards in force !

Problem : most pesticides are suspected of being endocrine disruptors, i.e. they can alter the functioning of our hormonal system (hence the prohibition of certain of them).

An Inserm study, for example, showed that pregnant women with traces of atrazine in their urine had a 70 % higher risk of having a child with a reduced head circumference compared to compared to other women.

Why don't health standards protect you enough ?

As you can see, despite health standards, we continue to find toxic substances in the water, sometimes at very high levels.

There are several reasons for this.

First of all, the limit levels make it possible above all to prevent people from falling ill immediately after drinking water. They guarantee water without infectious germs (bacteria, fungi, etc.).

But they do not prevent a progressive accumulation of toxic substances in our body, which, failing to make us sick, can promote the appearance of diseases.

Finally, it is sometimes too complicated for our authorities to supply certain regions with water that complies with regulations. Rather than finding cleaner sources, they prefer to make “ exceptions ”, or even worse, revise the standards upwards…

Thus, the acceptable thresholds change regularly at the discretion of governments. For example in February 2011, the tolerance thresholds would have been multiplied by 5!

A way to make drinking water that would have been considered, a few months earlier, unfit for consumption.

What should be remembered from these standards is that they above all make it possible to guarantee that the water is drinkable from a bacterial point of view.

But in my opinion, tap water cannot be considered drinkable from a chemical and sanitary point of view. It is almost impossible to find in France water that is truly " pure ".

Here's what you can swallow when you drink a glass of water

Let's take the main pollutants that can be present in water one by one to assess the dangers:

  • Le chlorine, combined with the organic matter potentially encountered in the pipes, can create long-term carcinogenic compounds, the " trihalomethanes ". More than ten studies also show an association between drinking chlorinated tap water and an increased risk of miscarriage in pregnant women. Others highlight an increased risk of  bladder and colon cancer.

  • As we have seen, some pesticides, such asatrazine, although banned in France for fifteen years, are still present in the tap water of some municipalities. This weedkiller had been widely used in agriculture from the 1960s and contaminated groundwater. Pesticides contaminate the water of three million consumers, mainly rural ones, in regions of intensive agriculture. They can form an explosive cocktail with heavy metals, hydrocarbons, drugs and other endocrine disruptors like PCBs.

  • Les PCB are banned in our country since 1987, but extremely persistent… A study carried out in 2011 as part of the national Nutrition Health plan revealed that the French had levels of PCBs four to _cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_five times higher than those of Americans. They would have many deleterious effects on our health, particularly in the fetus and the young child (intellectual retardation, malformation, infertility, etc.), but also in adults and the elderly (early degeneration, reduction in the thickness of the arteries, increase cancer risk).

  • The drugs, eliminated through urine and stools, end up in wastewater, before contaminating lakes, rivers and groundwater, and returning... to our taps. Not to mention the rejections of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. However, wastewater treatment plants were never designed to eliminate these residues. According to a 2009 study, almost all of the molecules detected in the wastewater from the Rouen University Hospital were still present at the outlet of the treatment plant, sometimes even in an even more concentrated way ! This would represent  several kilos per year for the Rouen University Hospital alone. Other studies regularly find antidepressants, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-cancer, hormones even in tap water and bottled water...

  • Arsenic  is naturally present in ancient or volcanic rocks, or in deep catchments. But agricultural and industrial activities have also contributed to its accumulation in water. Arsenic is toxic by cumulative effect. It would increase the risks of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancers of the skin, bladder and lungs. In the departments of Allier, Cantal and Puy-de-Dôme, where peaks up to 190 µg/L were recorded (the content "_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- lung cancer.

  • Le plomb  was widely used to manufacture drinking water pipes. In 2003, about a third of dwellings (8.8 millions) were still equipped with interior lead pipes. However, the analyzes show that up to 75 % of the water distributed in these dwellings contains some -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ (threshold set by the World Health Organization). The maximum amount " tolérée " in France in the human body is 50 μg of lead per liter of blood, but many researchers believe that its negative effects on the brain appear long before this rate (mental retardation, neurological disorders, memory and attention problems).

  • Aluminum, used in treatment plants, remains in suspension in the water and reaches the tap. However, it is a powerful neurotoxic_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d: a French study followed more than 3 700 people for eight years. According to the authors, people whose drinking water contained more than 0.1 mg of aluminum per liter were twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's disease (the limit rate is set at 0.2 mg/L). Another survey found that 3.8 millions of people were exposed to aluminum levels in drinking water greater than 0.2 mg/L.

  • The copper,in excess or poorly controlled, is a powerful pro-oxidant, pro-inflammatory and neurotoxic. It has already proven its effectiveness as a pesticide, as a disinfectant and as a contraceptive (copper IUD). High copper intakes are risk factors for cardiovascular disease, de  cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease  and poor prognosis in cancers, among others.

Despite drastic controls, these substances are present in water at varying concentrations depending on the region.

Indeed, it would be much too complicated to preserve water from all these pollutants resulting from human activity.

Why does no one in France die because of water ?

But then why don't we get sick ?

Why do we never hear that someone died because of poor water quality ?

The standards make it possible to avoid excessive levels of pollutants which would directly endanger our lives.

In contrast, small amounts of toxic substances can build up in your body for years.

Endocrine disruptors, for example, do not make you sick immediately and their toxicity would not depend on the dose : extremely small amounts can have as many or even more negative effects than higher levels.

The problem comes mainly from the cocktail  effect: it is the accumulation of different toxic substances which will interact with each other and can cause health problems in the long run.

The negative effects can therefore appear in the long term.

It is an insidious and invisible evil, like air pollution or waves. Water is rarely recognized as a direct cause of disease, but it can promote the appearance of disease.

So when you find cancer in someone, it's almost impossible to say it was caused by pollution, because it happened very gradually.

How to avoid being contaminated ?

To start, here are 5 tips that will help you limit the risks if you drink tap water :

  1. Let your water run for a few moments before the first use of the day in order to evacuate the stagnant water of the night, which could be more loaded with toxic substances.

  2. Avoid taking hot water from the tap for your consumption. 136bad5cf58d_°C. It is better to heat the water afterwards in the kettle or in a saucepan.

  3. Check the hardness of your water : soft, acidic water will take on more lead on contact with the pipes.

  4. Make sure you don't lack zinc and sulfur amino acids in your diet, as a deficiency could make you more vulnerable to copper.

  5. Use Binchotan charcoal to free the water of all its pollutants.

The bottled water business (and its consequences on our health)

We cannot rely on tap water.

Despite strict regulations, water contains dozens of toxic substances that can have serious long-term effects on our health.

It is for this reason that many people prefer to buy bottled water at the supermarket rather than using tap water.

Is bottled water a safe alternative to tap ?

Is it healthier to buy your water at the supermarket ?

Is the higher price justified ?

This is what we are going to see together now.

A market worth 100 billion euros !

Bottled water is a market worth more than 100 billion euros per year.

The turnover of the leader Nestlé on mineral water exceeds 80 billion euros per year!

Suffice to say that the water market is a gigantic, extremely lucrative business for the agro-food industry.

I don't want to dwell on the controversies surrounding the privatization of sources. Many journalists denounce the stranglehold of large companies on water sources to the detriment of local populations, often poor, deprived of this vital resource and forced to buy it back at exorbitant prices from manufacturers.

I will focus mainly on the links between water and health.

But first, I would just like to clarify two important things about the water market :

  • The mineral water market is an ecological disaster : bottling, transport, waste… Researchers have found that a liter of bottled water consumes 1 000 times more energy than a liter of tap water.

  • Bottled water costs 100 to 300 times more than tap water : a liter of tap water in Paris costs 0.003 euro per liter against 0.3 euro minimum for one liter bottled water (much more depending on the brand.

The resulting question is as follows :

Are the health benefits of bottled water worth spending so much money and energy on?

To justify spending so much on bottled water, the benefits of bottled water must be significantly greater than those of tap water.

And you will see that this is not necessarily the case.

The biggest problem with bottled water

As you probably know, the big problem with bottled water is the bottle.

Not only for ecological issues, but above all because it releases plastic microparticles into the water, which can be problematic for health.

There would thus be twice as many endocrine disruptors and harmful polyesters in the mineral waters contained in plastic bottles than in those made of glass.

That said, not all plastics are created equal.

There are 7 types of plastics, which differ in toxicity levels. Most mineral water bottles are made from PET. This material is the most recyclable and does not contain bisphenol A or phthalates. But it is not without risk and could contain other endocrine disruptors.

To choose the type of plastic for your bottle, you need to decode the pictogram at the bottom of your bottle. It is a triangle in the center of which is a number. The latter corresponds to the different chemicals that were used to produce the plastic.

To help you, I am sharing with you a table that we originally published in the Révélations Santé & Bien-Être magazine.

Here is their ranking from least to most dangerous:

BINCHOTAN EAUX.JPG

*Attention, among the plastics 7 there are also some of the least harmful plastics, such as 7 other which includes bioplastics made up of 100_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb35b586d_bad % of plants and the 7 PLA. Not to be confused, therefore, with " 7 PC ".

Note however that this " toxicity scale " is indicative : no type of plastic can preserve water from a contamination, even those at the top of this ranking.

2 tips to limit breakage

In general, avoid leaving your plastic bottles in the sun or near a heat source, as these can accelerate the release of plastic particles into the water.

Do not reuse a plastic bottle once empty. According to tests by an English sports company, reused plastic bottles and reusable water bottles contain 60 % of pathogenic germs (that's more than the toilet bowl!).

These various tips, as well as the choice of the type of plastic, can help you " limiter la casse ". But whatever you do, all plastic bottles release potentially toxic residues into the water you drink.

The best alternative remains glass bottles, which in addition to having a lower ecological impact, do not release any substance into the water.

The problem is that waters in glass bottles are hard to find in stores and are often very expensive.

Moreover, it is not because the water is " mineral " or " de source_cc754-91-905-905 bb3b-136bad5cf58d_» that it is free of pesticides, drugs and heavy metals.

Is bottled water really spared from pollution ?

Contrary to popular belief, mineral waters are not particularly spared from pollution.

In 2013, a survey by the magazine 60 millions of consumers found drug and pesticide residues in many major brands of mineral water.

Four years later, a vast study by the University of Bordeaux and the CNRS discovered, in 9 samples of mineral water, prohibited herbicides as well as substances from industry.

These elements are a reminder that in nature, nothing is completely sealed and that it is almost impossible to be spared from contaminants of any kind.

What about minerals, a health benefit ?

Mineral water is often preferred for its richness in minerals. The big brands have understood this well, and are now touting the benefits of calcium, potassium, sodium...

But despite these marketing promises, the interest of minerals in water is disputed. Of course, most of these minerals are useful for our health.

For some experts, it would also be necessary to drink water rich in minerals to fill any deficiencies. Conversely, weakly mineralized waters could dilute the minerals already present in the body.

But for others, the less mineralized the water, the better. Because it is up to the plants, fruits and vegetables to provide the minerals. In particular, waters that are too rich in copper, iron, fluorine and sodium should be avoided.

Water that is too mineralized would be likely to cause certain excesses in people with a diet rich in minerals.

For example :

  • Water that is too high in sodium could promote high blood pressure.

  • Too high concentrations of fluoride could weaken the bones and increase the risk of fracture (osteoporosis).

  • In addition, water that is too mineralized can overload the kidneys of people with kidney problems.

In the current state of research, it is therefore not possible to determine with certainty whether mineral waters are a real asset for health.

Note again that the main difference between spring water and mineral water is that the former comes from groundwater. It has a deeper underground origin than mineral waters.

But the mention " eau de source " is more a marketing argument than anything else : it is often poorer in minerals than 'a mineral water and is not therefore protected from pollution.

Although it is protected from microbes and pollution, industry and increasingly frequent groundwater pumping allow toxic substances to seep into the soil, thus polluting the upper surfaces of these reserves.

Should we then turn to a filtration system ?

Bottled water is therefore not necessarily a real alternative to tap water. Although they often contain fewer heavy metals and pesticides than tap water, they are nevertheless richer in plastic residues.

Are we therefore forced to choose between the plague and cholera ?

In fact, there is a third track, that of filtration systems.

But as with bottled water, the filter market is a very lucrative business.

You can find everything from dubious gadgets to sophisticated systems costing several thousand euros. It's hard to find your way around in this jungle of products whose quality and prices vary greatly.

Water filters : quick fix or scam ?

After seeing togetherthe risks associated with the consumption of tap waterandthe problems, no less bad, of bottled waters, we still have to explore one last way.

Home water filtration systems.

If you browse the Internet, you will find hundreds of water filter models.

There's something for every budget : from a simple water filter jug to an ultra-sophisticated system  costing several thousand euros.

It's hard to find your way around in this jungle of products whose quality and prices vary greatly...

Before you jump on one of these devices, I advise you to read the following. You will see that they are not always as efficient as what we are told and that the cost is not necessarily a guarantee of quality.

Filter jugs : un “ coup ”

In recent years, water filters have been on the rise. Many people, suspicious of the quality of water, now turn to these devices to purify it.

The companies that market these filters have understood the financial stakes and sometimes sell their products at maddening prices.

Among the most accessible devices are filter jugs.

These are carafes equipped with an activated carbon filter which, according to the manufacturers, would make it possible to sanitize the water.

This system seems attractive, because it is simple and inexpensive, but are the promises there ?

In 2010, the UFC Que Choisir looked at their performance both in a laboratory and in daily life within 31 families.

Mixed results :in the laboratory, new carafes would above all eliminate chlorine. Six of them succeeded in reducing the lead content when it was too high...

On the other hand, they do not eliminate nitrates, and the results are disappointing for the filtration of glyphosate and limestone.

Other problem :some models offer filters containing silver, which can contaminate the water in the form of salts.

Moreover, experience in daily life has proven that filter jugs are an ideal place for the proliferation of bacteria. Worse still : if the filter is not changed every month, it can release into your water… substances that it has accumulated for weeks.

For filters to be placed directly on the tap, 60 millions of consumers measured better performance on nitrates (reduction of 37 % of the rate).

The filter jugs, like the filters to put on the tap, nevertheless have an average efficiency and very variable according to the brands and the products (it depends on the quality of the materials used).

In addition, it takes between 10 and 200 euros to get one. These filters must be changed every month and this can represent a significant cost in the long term.

Note that, as often, the price is not always a guarantee of good quality...

The biggest problem is that there are very few studies done specifically on a model, so it is difficult to know which ones are really reliable.

This is why I generally advise against this type of filter, unless you have precise data on the effectiveness of the model you are interested in.

In fact, only one type of filter has shown real effects on most pollutants present in water.

Very high-end (but not for all budgets)

Only water filtered by reverse osmosis guarantees the elimination of heavy metals, chlorine, radioactivity, pesticides, bacteria and viruses.

This is also the technique used in spaceflight, in the medical or food-processing fields, when pollutant-free water is an absolute necessity.

This type of device is now available to individuals. It is a sort of large tank installed under the sink, made up of different filters : first a sediment filter and an activated carbon filter (to trap chlorine, pesticides, chemicals, etc.).

Then comes the centerpiece of the device : the osmotic membrane which, perforated with tiny 0.1 nanometer pores, only lets water molecules through.

This system makes it possible to obtain very pure water, free of all its contaminants… but also of its minerals (which is not necessarily a good thing).

The main obstacle to buying such a device is that it is expensive, between 500 and 1 000 euros.

It is also a huge source of water waste, since the yield is, in the best case, 50 %, or 2 litres of water used to obtain 1 litre of osmosis water… and in the worst case of 10 %, i.e. 10_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf'58d_litres used to obtain water 1 litre of reverse osmosis water !

The reverse osmosis filter is a high-performance device whose effectiveness has been scientifically validated.

But for my part, the problem of waste and the high cost of this device motivated me to turn to another solution, which I find much more interesting.

Because when we look a little closer at the different filter models, we realize that they all share the same " secret ".

The secret they had better not divulge

I may disappoint you : but the vast majority of filters (except reverse osmosis) are made almost exclusively from the same material  :activated carbon.

Behind their modern appearance and their more or less high prices, these devices pass the water through a simple carbon filter to eliminate chemical and bacteriological impurities.

The rest is often just marketing.

Why coal ?

Because to date, it is the material that has been the most studied and used for its depolluting properties (chlorine, organic micropollutants, pesticides, etc.).

I took a look at the PubMed database, which brings together all the scientific studies published to date around the world.

I entered the keywords “ activated carbon ” and “ water treatment_cc781905-debb1-94 136bad5cf58d_” (in English), and I found… 105 464 references !

This means that there are to date more than 100 000 studies devoted to activated carbon in water treatment.

It's amazing !

Of course, I cannot transcribe all these studies here, but here is an overview of what scientists have discovered on the subject.

Activated carbon :

  • Has a powerful adsorbent effect: it attracts particles to its surface like a magnet

  • Would be effective in removing pesticides from drinking water

  • Eliminate heavy metals (including lead and arsenic) according to a major review of studies

  • Would retain many drug residues present in the environment and in water

  • Would significantly reduce the level of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), an endocrine disruptor often present in drinking water

  • Would make it possible to significantly reduce the levels of suspended matter in the water, and in particular the organic pollutants discharged by industry

  • According to a 2017 study, “ activated carbon showed significant ability to remove wastewater : cadmium, copper, nickel and lead”

I could continue this list for several more pages. But you have understood the essential : activated carbon would be able to filter most of the pollutants present in water.

It is not for nothing that water treatment centers have been equipped with carbon filters for several years. Drinking water treatment plants also use it to remove pesticide residues.

That is to say !

It makes you wonder why we wouldn't put coal directly in our glass of water !

Incredible Charcoal

The manufacturing process of the charcoal for purifying use differs a little from that of the charcoal of our barbecues.

Activated carbon comes from a natural material produced from an organic vegetable matter rich in carbon such as non-resinous wood, bark or even coconuts, ash wood, poplar, the kernels of olives, peat or even peanut shells !

Hence the name charcoal.

It is first carbonized without air, at a very high temperature (between 600 °C to 900 °C). Puis, vient une deuxième chauffe entre 900 °C et 1 000 °C avec un ajout de vapeur water, oxygen or gas to increase the pollutant collection surface.

Like tiny, ultra-absorbent sponges, charcoal could capture 178 times its volume of ammonia and 97 times its volume of gas.

We then immediately understand why it is indicated in cases of bloating !

Activated vegetable charcoal comes in the form of an extremely fine and volatile powder, black in color.

But beware, not all activated carbons are created equal.

Beware of coal scams

Only a rigorous manufacturing process can give coal its full depollution capacity.

The choice of organic matter is also essential.

Many products are made from bamboo wood.

Except that bamboo is known for its ability to clean up soil : through its roots, it absorbs heavy metals, and in particular lead. These heavy metals are then found in the wood and finally in the coal used to manufacture certain filters.

Such filters could therefore have the opposite effect, by releasing the heavy metals naturally present in bamboo into the water.

This is why you have to be very careful before using charcoal to purify your water.

How to purify your water with this “ black stick ”

I have just told you about the extraordinary abilities of activated carbon to purify water.

But beware : not all activated carbons are created equal

Among all those on the market, there is one that, in my opinion, far exceeds all the others.

It is a traditional product, made in Japan for over 400 years.

I discovered it on a trip south of Osaka – and since then I can't live without it.

I understood that it was the best thing I could do to enjoy quality water without spending hundreds of euros.

In Japan, they put this strange “ bout de bois ” in their decanter

In 2017, I spent two weeks in southeastern Japan, in the Wakayama region.

There, the elders have a strange, centuries-old habit. They put a sort of piece of very hard coal in their jug of water.

When they pour each other water, the stick clinks the carafe with a clear, musical sound.

It took me a long time to find out that it was a very particular coal, which the Japanese call :binchotan

They put these charcoal sticks in their water to purify it before drinking it. They also use it in case of contamination, because they have long known of its ability to attract toxic substances.

There are many questions about the " secrets " of the Japanese to live a long healthy life.

There are many assumptions. For my part, I wonder if the binchotan would not play a major role in this exceptional longevity…

What you need to know before using binchotan

Survey :

  • Pesticides, drugs, heavy metals… why I no longer trust tap water – And why binchotan seems to me to be the only valid alternative

  • The exceptional powers of binchotan – supporting studies (it would act like a magnet to capture the toxins present in the water)

  • Why binchotan is considered the Rolls Royce of activated carbons: an ancestral manufacturing method would increase its sanitizing effects tenfold (I will reveal this very special method, which can last several weeks…)

  • Warning on cheap binchotan found on the Internet : some sticks may contain heavy metals which pollute the water instead of filtering it (a height ! )

The only guarantee of having an authentic and high quality binchotan is to get it from a traditional craftsman that you know and trust.

This is where I get my binchotan

It took me a while to find a great quality binchotan at an affordable price.

There are many producers. But there are few that offer a binchotan that is both :

  • Produced from Ubame oak

  • Made according to the ancestral Japanese method

  • 100 % natural and pesticide free

  • Free of heavy metals or other toxins (with regular checks)

  • Whose effectiveness in depolluting water has been validated by scientific studies

But above all, for the past ten years, it has been risky to use binchotan produced in Japan.

The problem is that with the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011, Japanese craftsmen can no longer guarantee a total absence of radioactivity on their binchotan.

When I learned of this, I almost gave up my research.

Process

Leave it on for at least an hour before drinking the water. This is the time it takes for it to take effect, but it's even better if you leave it in the water for several hours, or even a whole day.

For my part, as soon as a carafe is ready, I immediately prepare a second carafe with my binchotan, just to always have purified water available. I also prepare some in the evening for the next morning (so the stick works all night).

A single stick is enough to sanitize your water at home.

The binchotan can be reused without cleaning and its effectiveness lasts between 3 to 6 months (it must be replaced when you again feel the taste of chlorine in your water).

With binchotan, you benefit from healthier water without the hassle of a bulky device or filter jug to be cleaned every day.

You will rediscover the pleasure of drinking water, with ease.
